This APC Classic Concerto model has a solid koa body, bottom and flats and the scale is in black African wood. The koa is a species of native Hawaiian acacia, giving it an identity and personality very close to the original instruments.

The look of the CC Concerto ukulele benefits from the natural characteristics of the wood, giving it an organic look, with the veins and lines serving as a natural decoration on the darker top and sides for a beautiful contrast effect. The binding that helps to highlight the body contour is in embedded maple.

The ukulele concerto was created in the 1920s as a modification of the traditional format. The body is larger than the soprano model, which gives it a slightly deeper and fuller sound. It has the longest neck and a larger fretboard, with more frets and more spacing between them. Moreover, it is played the same way and even the pitch is the same: Sol3 - C4 - Mi4 - La4.

The ukulele descends directly from the Portuguese cavaquinho, taken by Portuguese sailors to the American Pacific Islands to musically cheer up crews on their long voyages.

It became a very popular instrument in the early decades of the twentieth century, kept company with American soldiers in World War II barracks, and saw a resurgence of its popularity in recent years, thanks to its adoption by many indie and some stars of international music. Among its supporters are Eddie Vedder and George Harrison.

APC was founded in 1976 by António Pinto Coelho, who is descended from a centenary school of luthiers in Porto. The company has about 45 artisans who build various types of traditional Portuguese and other origins. APC is the largest national company in this field, producing and distributing instruments to over twenty countries.
