The triangle is an idiophone percussion musical instrument made of metal. It is used in Portuguese folklore. In Brazilian folklore it is used in Northeastern folklore, especially in forró. In Brazil it is known as tengo-lengo or quindim, due to the sound it produces.
You can also find the triangle included in the percussion section of an orchestra or brass band.
It is usually made of iron or steel, although triangles in aluminum can also be found. The sound of the instrument is obtained by percussion, through the movement of the mallet, which is a thin metal bar. It strikes the triangle in sync with the hand that holds it and determines the sound produced, more open (with greater support) or closer.
