Description

The traditional Portuguese cavaquinho Artimúsica CV18C is a luxury instrument, handcrafted in Portugal by the experienced artisans of Artimúsica.

The Artimúsica CV18C is a model with high quality details and finishes. Its enormous build quality represents the best in the construction of traditional Portuguese instruments and its sound reproduces the musical tradition of our country.

To manufacture this luxury cavaquinho, Artimúsica's craftsmen chose the best materials. The woods were selected thinking about the characteristic sound of this instrument, and also its longevity. The result is a natural appearance of great aesthetic value, with a strong connection to the land and the roots of traditional music.

The top is in solid spruce and solid rosewood, which create a spectacular effect between its two half-tops in contrasting shades. In the middle, a traditional mouth in the shape of a ray, so representative of Minho folklore, decorated with a well-crafted motif.

The bottom and sides are in solid rosewood, with a glossy finish that highlights the natural grain of the wood. The neck is in poplar, and the fretboard is in palo santo, providing a beautiful effect of continuity from the upper half-top, made in the same material.

The four strings are tuned by a set of 2+2 nickel-plated chimes, which allows for the most intense interpretations. Lower down, the split bridge ensures precise intonation. There are several tunings for the cavaquinho. The traditional tuning, from the highest string to the lowest, is in D - B - G - G.

The cavaquinho is one of the most popular Portuguese chordophones played in various traditional genres, from Minho rusgas to viras. And, more recently, it has found space in other more modern musical genres that benefit from its bright and very lively sound.

Artimúsica is one of the most distinguished brands of Portuguese popular instruments, which manufactures all its instruments respecting the musical and manufacturing tradition of each one of them.

Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the reference brands in the craft construction of traditional Portuguese instruments. It is a family business that applies the construction methods initiated by master Joaquim José Machado over 100 years ago. Nowadays, their descendants manufacture each instrument as if it were a true work of art, making each piece unique and of high quality.

The Artimúsica CV18C is more than a musical instrument. It is a piece of art to be played by knowledgeable musicians and lovers of traditional Portuguese chordophones.
