Acoustic guitar amplifiers take advantage of the sonic characteristics of electroacoustic guitars, be they steel or nylon strings, given the type of pickups that are installed on these guitars and are different from the pickups installed on electric guitars. Usually the current electroacoustic guitars come equipped with a piezo type pickup and a preamplifier system with frequency equalizer.
When attaching one of these guitars to an acoustic guitar amplifier, it is good practice to put the volume in half and the preamplifier sliders in the middle as well, then adjust to the desired sound on the amplifier controls. So the guitarist has the margin to make adjustments of sound in the pre-amplifier of the guitar that has at hand.
