A mixer is an analog or digital device used to combine various sound sources into a single output signal. The more complex tables can direct the signal forming several independent and simultaneous mixes and change various parameters of the sound, such as volume, timbre and dynamic range.
There are general purpose models and more specialized models, for example for recording and sound recording studios. When used for sound, the signal produced by the mixer is usually delivered to an audio amplifier.
A simple mixer has input channels that receive signals from various sources (musical instruments, microphones, or recorded music players) and output channels that deliver the signals already mixed. In the input channels, you can adjust the sound parameters to produce the desired effect in the final mix. The most common parameters are channel volume, gain (amount of amplification), equalization (high, mid and low frequencies) as well as effects (eg reverb). You can check the sound levels on each channel (expressed in decibels) in real time.
