Neither too thin nor too thick, Remo's Ambassador Coated heads are made from a layer of 10 mil Mylar film that resonates with a long, bright sound. They have moderate durability. Great for heavier jazz or light to medium rock. The coated surface gives the head a slightly softer and darker sound than a light head.

Remo's history began after the Second World War, when experiments were being carried out with Mylar®, a polyester film manufactured by DuPont®. At that time, Mylar® was used during wartime as heat-resistant film for night reconnaissance flights. The exceptionally durable, inexpensive and weather resistant material that provided previously unattainable tuning, tone and consistency intrigued Remo D Belli, an already successful professional drummer. Remo began his legacy with Weatherking® skins, the first commercially successful synthetic skin design.
