This set of two bongos, one with the diameter of six and three-quarter inches and the other eight inches, the shells are made with dark-coloured Siam Oak wood. The natural skin is attached with EZ Curve rims, in a Latin Percussion design, connected by 9/32-inch tensioners for greater control and security in tuning. The hardware has a coating for better appearance and protection.
The bottom is steel, like the original Cuban instruments, and the sound is the same as the Havana bands. The Aspire series bongos are built in true Cuban style by Latin Percussion, taking into account the tradition and typical sound of the percussion instruments it manufactures, but also environmental sustainability.
Made from wood grown on environmentally sustainable plantations and dried in high energy efficient kilns, Latin Percussion's bongos stand out for their build quality as well as their aesthetics, thanks to the natural finish which highlights the wood's natural texture.
The bongos are a simple percussion instrument, composed of two small drums joined together, one slightly larger than the other, open at the bottom and percussed with the hands. The lower and larger one is called the female, while the other is called the male, which makes sense as they are used in styles suitable for dancing in pairs, such as salsa, cha cha cha and merengue.
They are perfect for forming part of the rhythm sections of various styles, from Cuban and Latin American-influenced music to jazz. The Aspire LP Wood LPA601-DW responds well to fast rhythms, maintaining the tension and definition needed to make themselves heard with clarity and volume.
The Latin Percussion Aspire Wood LPA601-DW bongos are a tribute to the tradition of percussion instruments from Cuba, with great build and sound quality at an affordable price.
