Electro-Harmonix Nano Metal Muff
The Electro-Harmonix Nano Metal Muff is designed for players who demand aggressive, hard-hitting distortion with razor-sharp precision. Featuring a powerful 3-band EQ (Bass ±14dB, Mid ±15dB, Treble ±10dB), it offers maximum tone-shaping flexibility for crushing riffs and searing leads. Its newly designed noise gate with adjustable threshold and LED indicator eliminates unwanted hum, keeping your sound tight and defined. With controls for Volume, Distortion, and EQ, this compact, pedalboard-friendly unit delivers high-gain performance for modern metal players. Includes 9V battery.
The Electro-Harmonix Nano Metal Muff is a high-gain distortion pedal for electric guitar that concentrates the sonic power you need to play metal in a compact format.
In metal, the weight of a riff depends as much on distortion as on articulation. The notes of a fast passage need to stand out, palm mutes require controlled bass, and the silences between attacks are also part of the rhythm.
To achieve this, the Nano Metal Muff allows you to precisely shape your sound. The bass, mid, and treble controls, along with an adjustable noise gate, let you work with heavy riffs and saturated solos without sacrificing definition. On the three-band equalizer, the bass has a 14 dB cut or boost margin, the mids 15 dB, and the treble 10 dB.
This range allows you to significantly change how the guitar stands out in the mix. They can reduce the bass if the chords lose clarity, boost the mids to add definition to a solo, or attenuate the highs when the picking becomes too sharp. There's also room to experiment with deeper mids, a common sound in certain approaches to metal.
The aggressiveness of your signal can also be precisely defined. The Distortion knob regulates the amount of saturation, from a more restrained distortion to intense gain levels. The Volume determines the output level, making it easier to mix the original signal with the processed sound.
The integrated noise gate solves a common problem with high-gain distortions: the noise that becomes audible when they stop playing. The Gate control sets the limit below which the output is muted; the LED lights up when this happens. Careful adjustment helps preserve the end of notes while making the pauses in a syncopated riff clearer. Turned fully to the left, the gate is deactivated.
The Nano Metal Muff uses an analog circuit and buffered bypass. It measures 11.4×7×5.3 cm and consumes 24 mA. It works with the included 9 V battery or with an optional 9.6 V adapter, purchased separately.
Electro-Harmonix has a long history of creating distortion effects. Released in 2021, this Nano-sized Metal Muff maintains the interest in heavy sound and adds precise control where it matters most: in equalization, gain amount, and silence between notes.
