Electro-Harmonix POG3 Polyphonic Octave Generator
The Electro-Harmonix POG3 is the most powerful polyphonic octave generator yet, delivering lightning-fast tracking and flawless polyphony across 4 octaves. With 6 distinct voices (DRY, -2, -1, +5th, +1, +2), illuminated sliders, and independent pan and mix controls, the POG3 creates tones from 12-string shimmer to massive organ textures. It features a multimode filter with adjustable Q (quality control), enhanced detune section, Attack, Input Gain, and 100 editable presets, all fully controllable via MIDI and expression. With dedicated stereo outputs and EHXport software for Mac/PC, it’s an unmatched creative tool for stage and studio.
The Electro-Harmonix POG3 Polyphonic Octave Generator takes one of the brand's best-known octave pedal families into much deeper territory for greater musical exploration.
The POG3 is a force to be reckoned with in your pedalboard. It retains the ability to quickly track chords and individual notes, but adds six independent voices, four octaves of range, stereo panning, additional processing, and memory to transform the octave into a tool for arranging and creating sound.
Octave generators can be used to thicken a riff, create a bass line, or add brightness above the guitar. The POG3 takes these familiar uses and expands them. The six voices — Dry, -2, -1, +5th, +1, and +2 — can be individually mixed via the illuminated faders, allowing you to build anything from subtle doubling to sounds reminiscent of 12-string guitars, organs, or large-scale synthetic layers.
The great strength of the POG series has always been its polyphony. Here, full chords can simultaneously feed the upper and lower voices without forcing you to play one note at a time. The new fifth interval adds another harmonic relationship to the mix, while the pan controls allow each voice to distribute between the left and right outputs to create much more open stereo images.
The Attack section allows you to smooth the start of notes and approximate certain settings to the behavior of an organ. Detune introduces small pitch differences to increase width and movement, and the multimode filter features adjustable Q and envelope control. There is also Input Gain, Master Volume, and Focus for the upper octaves, giving plenty of room to shape the texture before reaching the amplifier or interface.
The 100 presets make this depth usable on stage, while MIDI and expression pedal can control virtually all parameters. Three 1/4" outputs — Left, Right, and Direct Out — facilitate stereo setups or separate paths. The OLED screen and USB-C connection with the EHXport app help edit, save, and organize sounds.
The original POG emerged in 2005 and forged its own path between pitch shifting, octaves, and tone creation. The POG3 develops this idea with a much greater degree of control, while maintaining the essential principle of the family: play normally and let the pedal transform each note or chord into a much broader sonic material.
The Electro-Harmonix POG3 Polyphonic Octave Generator is a pedal for imaginative guitarists who want to add new layers to their harmonies and melodies with definition and sound quality.
