The Electro-Harmonix Oceans Abyss Advanced Reverb Laboratory is more than just a reverb pedal; it's a true sound creation platform.

Instead of starting with a single environment with a few adjustable parameters, the Oceans Abyss Advanced Reverb Laboratory offers two independent stereo reverb engines, a configurable effects chain, and enough memory to transform complex sounds into ready-to-recall presets.

Reverb has always served to give depth and space to a guitar, but it can also become an active part of the composition. Oceans Abyss explores precisely this more creative side. The two reverbs can work simultaneously, be programmed separately, and positioned in the stereo field, creating anything from a discreet room around the signal to wide landscapes where different environments intersect and move.

There are ten reverb types: Room, Hall, Spring, Plate, Reverse, Dynamic, Auto-Infinite, Shimmer, Polyphonic, and Resonant. This selection covers classic approaches and others that are clearly experimental. They can start with a short, organic Spring, create dense tails with Hall or Plate, invert the sense of space with Reverse, or explore extended, harmonic textures through Shimmer and Auto-Infinite.

The architecture goes far beyond reverb. The pedal accepts up to eight blocks in a configurable chain, with effects such as digital, analog, or tape-inspired delay, tremolo, chorus, flanger, phaser, graphic equalizer, saturation, bit crusher, volume, and an external loop. This allows you to decide what happens before, between, or after the reverbs and build courses that would normally require multiple pedals.

For stage and studio, the 128 available presets avoid having to rebuild each combination. MIDI control and expression pedal add real-time movement, while the OLED screen makes navigation easy. The USB-C connection and the EHXport app also allow you to edit, organize, and manage presets on your computer. Stereo inputs and outputs make panning and depth work particularly interesting.

The Oceans Abyss is a digital processor with buffer bypass and included 9.6 VDC/500 mA power supply.
