The Yamaha YRA324B Alto Recorder in F Baroque Neo Professional revives the visual language of traditional ebony recorders in a modern, durable instrument prepared for regular study, ensemble playing, and alto recorder repertoire.
Tuned in F, the YRA324B follows the Rottenburgh model and uses Baroque fingering, a familiar configuration for musicians working with historical repertoire and seeking an alto recorder with a traditional positioning arrangement. The ABS plastic body makes the instrument less sensitive to temperature and humidity variations than a wooden construction, making it especially suitable for frequent use.
The imitation ebony finish gives it a sober appearance, close to the wooden recorders that serve as an aesthetic reference for this series. Despite this classic look, the construction is entirely contemporary: the body is divided into three pieces, which facilitates assembly, cleaning, and minor positional adjustments between sections.
One of the important elements of this model is the arched wind tunnel. This configuration influences how the air reaches the fipple and is associated with greater control of emission and articulation, especially when alternating between sustained notes, more defined attacks, and quick passages. The double holes also help in the execution of chromatic notes and are part of the baroque configuration of this instrument.
Being an alto recorder, the YRA324B occupies a lower register than a soprano in C and brings another density to the ensemble. This makes it particularly interesting in recorder groups, where it can take on intermediate or melodic lines with more body, but also in individual study of repertoire written specifically for alto.
Yamaha has been manufacturing musical instruments since 1887 and applies an approach to the recorder family that crosses historical references with modern materials. In the YRA324B, this combination appears clearly: Rottenburgh model, baroque fingering and ebony-inspired finish, associated with the resistance and consistency of ABS.
The Yamaha YRA324B is an alto recorder suitable for musicians who want to deepen their repertoire in F, with a stable construction, a familiar Baroque configuration, and robust enough to accompany their study, intensive rehearsals, and regular use.
