String Set Aquila Ambra 800 82C Normal Tension for Classical Guitar

Until the middle of the 20th century, classical guitar strings consisted exclusively of gut trebles (they still refer to higher strings as "guts"), while bass strings were strings spun from silk. The acoustic performance of this setup was very different from what you get with current sets. In fact, it was characterized by a marked presence of timbre, attack and brightness typical of high strings (certainly superior to nylon and in some aspects more similar to PVDF or Carbono), while the bass strings had a less bright and persistent sound than the current ones in nylon.

The set comes in a single degree of tension and is composed of gut-colored supernylgut trebles with a back surface exactly as is done for gut strings (in particular imitating the surface of a gut treble string that once belonged to guitarist Andrès Segovia). Average diameters are representative of what Aquila found during the survey. For the basses, which are spun in silver-plated copper over a special red multifilament called 'Rayon', a balance between metal and core was sought in order to recreate exactly the typical sound of the coated silk of the time.
