The body is made from selected lightweight laminated woods, with X-bracing for woody vintage sounds and greater sustain.

The top of the Jim Dandy Deltoluxe is made of sapele, as are the back and sides. This model is in a dark denim color, with a semi glossy finish. It features an aged white pickguard.

The neck is in nato wood and the fingerboard in walnut. The Gretsch Jim Dandy Deltoluxe has 20 vintage-sized frets, synthetic bone nut and pearloid position markers, which contrast perfectly with the dark tone of the fingerboard wood.
