Edition Peters

Peters Editions have their distant origin on December 1, 1800, when composer and conductor Franz Anton Hoffmeister entered into partnership with the organist Ambrosius Kühnel to create a stable music establishment in Leipzig, having as its activities the sale of instruments - providing , among others, Goethe and Beethoven - and the publication of books and sheet music. Among his first publications were collections of Haydn string quartets and Mozart quartets and quintets.

After years of activity in many other locations, a purchase agreement concluded in early 2013 between the city of Leipzig and the heirs of the company created a permanent home in Leipzig, where the parent company of the Peters Publishing Group is headquartered again to Leipzig.
