In 1956, Martin Cohen, a young mechanical engineer and avid photographer of the Bronx, found the famous Birdland jazz club in New York. He entered and was immediately captivated by the sound and energy of Latin jazz.
In 1964, Martin Cohen founded the Latin Percussion (LP) and soon delivered bongos, bells and other instruments in brown paper bags to musicians.
Today, LP percussion instruments are put to the test by professional and amateur musicians around the world. Year after year, LP's legacy persists, while a research and development team continues to work with top artists to create the best percussion instruments.
