Pepote

Pepote

It all started in 1990, when José Hernández Díaz (Pepote), just 13 years old, saw a cajón for the first time. None other than Rubem Dantas and Manolo Soler played, accompanying maestro Paco de Lucía in one of his shows. This encouraged him to investigate that mysterious instrument, although in pre-Internet times, there was no information in stores, magazines, books and other sources.

With the wood at his disposal and the measurements completely invented, he made the first cajón, from which he took notes for future tests, which progressively encourage him to develop the instrument in a self-taught way.

As a child, he began selling cajons to family and friends for the material costs, and his tenacity began to be rewarded by the interest that his instruments aroused in the different music stores in his city.

With the company in operation and the help of the first workers, Pepote sells cajóns throughout Spain and begins the first exports to users around the world. If there is something that places Pepote as an international reference in the manufacture of the flamenco cajon, it is the desire to experiment.

Today, Pepote continues to reserve a generous margin of time to carry out all types of assembly, tuning and sound system tests, which makes the company an international reference in the manufacture of cajons and one of the most responsible for the evolution of this fantastic instrument. .
